Wedding. From the Gippsland Times 13 Nov 1922
On Saturday, November 4th, at Maffra, the wedding took place of Miss Agnes J. Jessep, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Jessep, "Roonsleign," Tinamba, and Mr. Roy Sutton Mawley, "Fosterton," Sale, second son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Mawley.
The bride was given away by her brother, Mr. Arthur Jessep, and was becomingly gowned in ivory georgette with a painted overdress of charmeuse. The dress was daintily embroidered with silver bugle beads, white hand-made flowers marked the waist line. A train of duchesse satin and dainty quile veil were also worn by the bride, who carried a pretty shower bouquet of white roses.
Rev. D. Weir officiated, and the wedding was fully choral, the choir singing "The Voice that breathed 0'er Eden," as the bride entered the church. The bridesmaid was Miss Marian Mawley, sister of the bridegroom, and wore a frock of primrose cashmere-de-soi, with panels of georgette, and wore a charming black tulle hat, and carried a bouquet of yellow roses. Little Joyce Colvin, who acted as trainbearer, wore white georgette, and a horse shoe of golden broom flowers hung from her arm. Mr. Clyde Jessep (brother of the bride) supported Mr. Mawley. The bridegroom's present to the bridesmaid and trainbearer were gold armlets, and to the bride a wristlet watch.
The bride's present to the bridegroom was a set of xylonite military brushes.
During the signing of the register a solo was rendered by Miss Gertrude Wilson. Mr. Kruger presided at the organ.
After the ceremony about 70 guests were entertained at Tinamba Hall by Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Jessep, the usual toasts being honoured. The bride's travelling gown was a coat-frock of fawn gabardine, with hat of nigger satin straw and shoes, bag, &c., en suite.
In the evening a number of the bride's and bridegroom's young friends were entertained at Tinamaba Hall at a delightful and enjoyable dance. The bride was trained at the Gippsland Hospital as a nurse, and she was very popular in that profession. Numerous handsome and costly presents were received.
